The first Wittmann flagship store in Germany opened its doors on May 2 at an exclusive evening event at stilwerk Hamburg which was attended by around 150 guests. The goal was to showcase outstanding handcrafted furniture that successfully bridges the gap between traditional and modern design. Star designer Sebastian Herkner got the event under way with a presentation of the latest edition of the MERWYN collection at stilwerk.
Hamburg, May 2018. One thing in particular unites Austrian family-owned company Wittmann and the stilwerk design platform: an uncompromising approach to quality and design. So it made perfect sense for Wittmann to choose stilwerk in Hamburg as the location of its first flagship store in Germany. True to Wittmann’s core competence, the focus is primarily on upholstered furniture for living rooms and bedrooms.Customers will find all of the latest Wittmann collections by leading designers – such as Sebastian Herkner, Jaime Hayon and Monica Förster – prominently displayed on a 150 square metre ground floor section of the stilwerk showroom. Highlights include new pieces such as the classic stand-alone VUELTA chaise longue and the latest edition to the MERWYN chair range with striking piping and powder coated frame available either in brass or black-grey. “Our design builds a bridge between traditional and modernity,” explains Wittmann CEO Hartmut Roehrig. “And that should be reflected in the store concept. Which is why we are so pleased to have secured stilwerk Hamburg – with its exclusive design palette and special historic architecture – as the location for the first Wittmann flagship store in Germany.” stilwerk owner Alexander Garbe also sees the partnership with Wittmann as a perfect fit. “The arrival of Wittmann adds a sought after established brand to the stilwerk portfolio, one that has managed to constantly reinvent itself while remaining true to its roots. A philosophy that we share at stilwerk,” Garbe explained.
