Fame, Pillet’s design for Wittmann, bears his unmistakable signature. Defined by flawless flowing lines, the upholstered chair is a roll-call of all of Wittmann’s greatest qualities: ageless design, comfort and longevity. During the design process the designer sought to get as close as possible to Wittmann’s roots and values. The outcome: an uncluttered and timeless aesthetic, unswayed by ephemeral trends, and the manifestation of unpretentious handcraftsmanship at the very highest level. Pillet saw the challenge in finding a form that appeared familiar, yet was unmistakably Wittmann owing to its simplicity.
Christophe Pillet studied at Nice's Arts Décoratifs College. He was a musician and actor before being named Designer of the Year by the Salon du Meuble de Paris in 1993, and going on to set up his own studio in 1994. Today, Pillet designs furniture, products and interiors for international premium brands. Many of his projects have picked up international awards.
